Introduction

Lombok Earthquake Disaster Relief

In 2018, a series of powerful earthquakes struck Lombok Island, with magnitudes ranging from 5.9 to 7.0 between late July and mid-August. The quakes caused widespread devastation — more than 500 people lost their lives, over 1,800 were injured, and nearly 186,000 homes were destroyed. Families across the island were left without shelter, medical care, and basic necessities, facing immense hardship in the aftermath of the disaster.

Supported by funds raised through Earth Company, Bumi Sehat mobilized to provide emergency relief. A total of US$46,000 was contributed to the response, enabling the team to deliver essential medical services, food, and supplies to survivors. True to its mission, Bumi Sehat focused on the most vulnerable — mothers, children, and the elderly — ensuring that they received care, comfort, and dignity during this time of loss and upheaval.

Through these efforts, Bumi Sehat brought not only vital assistance but also hope to the people of Lombok. The relief work demonstrated the power of compassion and solidarity in the face of disaster, showing families that they were not alone in rebuilding their lives.
