Future+ Regenerative Design International Workshop is not just about architecture. It’s about reimagining our relationship with place, community, and the planet. Co-designed by WildBound and Architecture 2030, this three-part journey has been weaving together international expertise, indigenous wisdom, and deep nature connection to shape a new paradigm for regenerative design in Asia.
From the misty mountains of Sichuan, China, to the cultural heart of Kuching, Malaysia, each chapter has left us with profound insights, unexpected connections, and a deepened sense of responsibility to build for a thriving future.
A Look Back: The First Two Chapters
Sichuan, China – May 2024

The first chapter of the Future+ Regenerative Design Workshop brought together designers, architects, and sustainability advocates in the rural landscapes of Tieniu Village and Luding Village. Hosted by WildBound, Architecture 2030, Mykunta, and the Libo Konka Eco Community, the six-day immersive experience guided participants through meditation, ecological design practices, and cultural explorations. Led by mentors Bill Reed and Roberto Fraquelli, attendees learned to view buildings as living systems—adapting, evolving, and existing in harmony with nature. More than just architecture, this workshop reinforced the deep connections between people, place, and the environment. Check out the video here.
Kuching, Malaysia – October 2024

Shifting to a more urban setting, the second Future+ Regenerative Design Workshop took place in Kuching, Malaysia, co-organized by WildBound, Architecture 2030, and Borneo Lab. Rooted in the seven principles of regenerative design and inspired by Borneo’s cultural heritage and the spirit of Gotong-Royong (communal cooperation), participants engaged in site visits, design challenges, and immersive experiences. Highlights included a tour of the Borneo Cultures Museum, a deep exploration of the Fairy Cave, and meaningful interactions with the Bidayuh community. The workshop concluded with a design challenge, where participants proposed creative solutions to embody the spirit of reciprocity through design in collaboration with Borneo Laboratory.
From rural to urban, the second chapter brought us to Kuching, where the energy of Borneo’s heritage and the spirit of Gotong-Royong (communal cooperation) infused the experience. Site visits, design challenges, and immersive explorations of Fairy Cave and the Bidayuh community deepened our understanding of regenerative design in an evolving cityscape. The workshop, co-organized by: by WildBound, Architecture 2030, and Borneo Laboratory, concluded with a powerful exercise—reimagining design as an act of reciprocity, where every space serves both people and the planet.
