Having lived through the Indonesian occupation of Timor-Leste, Bella Galhos survived human trafficking, brutal massacre, and sexual and physical abuse while fighting for her country’s liberation until she defected in Canada.
After Timor-Leste’s independence in 2002, Bella returned and later became an Advisor to the President. She plans to run for the country’s 2023 presidential election. If elected, she will become the first female head of state in Timor and LGBT president in Asia!
Earth Company fundraised a total of 135,200 USD for Bella and contributed to building the Leublora Green School, a school specializing in environmental education to train the next generation leaders.

Timor-Leste, Environmental Education/LGBT
Decades of conflict have left half of the population of Timor-Leste in extreme poverty. Bella founded Leublora Green School to transform Timor-Leste’s underprivileged children into green leaders who will lead this young oil-dependent country to a sustainable future. Today, the Leublora Green Village has now grown to become a model for eco-tourism. She plans to run for the country’s 2023 presidential election. If elected, she will become the first LGBT president in Asia. She stands as a beacon of change for a wide variety of social issues.
