The Philippines' Typhoon Rai Relief
In December 2021, Super Typhoon Rai — known locally as Typhoon Odette — tore through the Philippines, devastating the island of Palawan along with many parts of the Visayas and Mindanao. With winds reaching over 200 km/h, the storm displaced more than 630,000 people, leaving 438,000 to take shelter in nearly 3,000 evacuation centers. Hundreds were injured or missing, and entire communities were left without access to clean water, electricity, or basic resources for weeks.
Bumi Sehat, which operates a community birth clinic in Palawan, quickly mobilized to respond. Supported by funds raised through Earth Company, the team provided emergency relief to families struggling to recover amid the devastation. With access to resources extremely limited, especially in marginalized areas, the assistance delivered vital supplies and care — ensuring that mothers, children, and the elderly could meet their most basic needs and begin rebuilding their lives with dignity and hope.
