Laugh, Learn, Lead: A Season of Regenerative Futures Games
What if regeneration felt less like theory and more like play?
This year, Earth Company’s Impact Academy explored that question through a new experiment: the Regenerative Futures Games, a three-part series held in Bali from August to October 2025.
Each session invited participants to learn about nature and regenerative thinking through games, creativity, and collective imagination.

Our first gathering brought 19 participants together at Mana Earthly Paradise. Co-hosted by EcoGames, a team that designs engaging educational games for sustainability, the participants were introduced to:
What began as a lighthearted gathering became a meaningful exploration of climate awareness, teamwork, and curiosity.

In September, 23 participants joined a playful introduction to Cards for Life at Astungkara Way, surrounded by rice paddies and a beautiful sky. Cards for Life is a powerful tool that sparks conversations about nature, regeneration, and life consists of three sets: Dynamics, Being, and Doing. The deck was adapted into quick group activities, including:
The afternoon unfolded with laughter, creativity, and spontaneous insights.

The final session of the season welcomed 18 participants for the first-ever Bali facilitation of Earth Company’s award-winning Sea Bass Challenge, recognized by the Good Design Award. Held as part of Earth Company's 11th year anniversary celebrations, this special edition of the game invited participants to navigate the balance between social, ecological, and economic impact - bringing systems thinking to life in an engaging format.
Across three months, a total of 60 participants joined the Regenerative Futures Games. Together, they experienced how play can open new pathways to understanding regeneration. The games left a joyful impression on everyone involved. As participants shared:

“This event was truly enjoyable and insightful. Playing the games with new people allowed me to connect, laugh, and also learn meaningful lessons about values like mutuality and collaboration. It wasn’t just fun, it was also a chance to reflect and grow together.”
- Avny, participant of Cards for Life game.
“I had an amazing time in the workshop I attended. The activity was engaging and dynamic. In a short time, I gained more understanding of the issue and the perspective of stakeholders. I also get to connect with more people from other organizations.”
- Diko, participant of the Sea Bass Challenge.
Earth Company is now developing another season of the Regenerative Futures Games, set to launch in early 2026.
This expanding initiative builds on ongoing experimentation with playful, hands-on learning, including the Amazing Impact Race (first edition and second edition), a half-day event that lets participants discover Ubud’s inspiring social enterprises through a fun and competitive race. Together, these programs reflect a broader commitment to making regenerative learning more experiential, accessible, and joyfully engaging. The next chapter is already taking shape, inviting even more people to step into regenerative futures through the power of play.
